Through a network of approximately 470 local branches, across 44 states and five provinces, the company offers more than 100,000 landscaping products.

Why they chose Flintfox

The Challenge

The company sells its goods exclusively via Point of Sale systems and was facing challenges in delivering real time pricing across all its stores with using its existing system.

The company offers custom pricing for most of its 300,000+ customers adding an extra layer of complexity to identify the correct price for each customer and products, and products when they are checking out at the store.

An eCommerce website was being implemented as a new sales channel and a solution was needed that would enable custom pricing online. This required a large additional load on the current pricing engine and the number of concurrent users looking for pricing information was expected to increase significantly. Additional challenges included:

  • Difficulty in controlling and monitoring manually entered prices and discounts.

  • Management of extremely complicated pricing with approximately 1.5 billion calculated prices requiring up to 50 price model levels to resolve.

  • Not having one central source of pricing truth - real time, fast pricing needed to be delivered through the existing Point of Sale Infrastructure and new eCommerce site at the same time.

In summary, a combination of the outlined price management challenges together with rapid business growth resulted in the company seeking a more modern and efficient solution to manage their pricing process.

The Solution

The company chose to replace their existing POS system, with ‘TRM for AX’, Flintfox’s Trade Revenue Management solution for Dynamics AX. This was also supercharged with the RMX Performance Pricing engine for ultra-fast pricing calculations. The implementation project was divided into two stages:

  • Stage 1 - TRM for AX was embedded within AX 2012, meaning that they were able to bring all pricing back into the ERP and have one single source of pricing information.

  • Stage 2 - The new eCommerce website was launched integrated with the Flintfox solution, allowing customers to order directly online, using the same pricing as the in-store pricing.
